Neonatal ICU Nurses Care for the Smallest, Most Critical Patients

Neonatal ICU nurses are responsible for the care of newborns in critical condition. This means the babies are not medically stable and are sick enough to warrant constant care.

Babies can come to the neonatal ICU from several different places. One way is for the labor and delivery nurse to notice a problem that prompts a direct admission to the unit. Alternately, the baby can come to the neonatal nurse through the mother/baby unit if issues arise that are critical as the baby ages. Finally, an emergency admission from home may lead to a baby arriving in the neonatal ICU, depending upon hospital policy.

The estimated weekly gross pay is based on the specified number hours per week and includes available stipend amounts.
